About Hyre Automotive Intelligence
Last updated October 2, 2026
Hyre Automotive Intelligence is an AI-powered diagnostic tool that helps you figure out what's going on with your vehicle before you spend a dollar at a shop. Tell it what you're hearing, feeling, or seeing, and Sherlock, the reasoning engine behind Hyre, walks the evidence with you the way a careful mechanic would, then hands you a plain-English verdict: the likely causes, ranked; the tests that tell them apart; a rough cost range; and, when it's a job you can take on yourself, the steps and the parts to get it done.
Who it's for
Hyre is built for everyday car owners and weekend wrenchers who want to understand a problem before deciding whether to fix it themselves or hand it to a shop. It's for the person staring at a check-engine light, a strange noise, or a pull to one side, who'd rather know the likely suspects and the rough cost before picking up the phone. It's not a replacement for a qualified mechanic, and it says so plainly, but it gives you a head start and the confidence to ask the right questions.
What it does
Describe a symptom in plain English and Sherlock works the case, asking follow-up questions, weighing the evidence, and ruling out unlikely suspects before delivering a verdict.
Save your vehicles and every investigation. Re-open a case to add new clues, upload a photo, or pull an OBD-II code, and Sherlock refines the verdict.
Each verdict comes with a rough cost range, a read on whether it's a driveway job or a shop job, step-by-step DIY guidance, and links to the parts you'd need.
Share a case to the Community feed, read how other members solved the same problem, and learn from real repair stories.
Who builds it
Hyre is built and run by a small, independent team that believes car owners deserve clear, honest information about their vehicles. The app runs on the Base44 platform, uses leading AI models for its reasoning, and processes payments through Stripe. As an Amazon Associate, Hyre earns from qualifying parts purchases, at no extra cost to you, which helps keep the service running. We're always improving Sherlock's reasoning and adding to the parts and vehicles it understands.
A note on safety
Sherlock reasons from the evidence you give it. For anything safety-critical, like brakes, steering, or suspension, confirm with a qualified mechanic before you drive.
